Le projet

Our project embraces an authentic approach. Meeting the artisans ensures dignified working conditions. It also allows us to delve into the secrets of their techniques and history, so we can convey the values that are dear to us. This journey creates a warm connection with our artisans, as at Pari Banou, conviviality is our guiding principle. We are committed to maintaining fair prices that honor the invaluable work of our partners. Driven by environmental concerns, we prioritize 100% natural products and plant-based dyes, preserving both our artisans and the planet. Finally, our vintage collection brings together treasures, some over a century old, others discovered within families eager to give them a second life.

Algerian craftsmanship, despite its modest renown, remains an undeniable source of wealth in its abundant diversity. Unfortunately, what once constituted a precious cultural heritage in this country is now threatened with extinction. The artisanal methods that once flourished in Algeria now survive only in memories, victims of the lack of tourism and foreign competition. Master artisans struggle to pass on their knowledge to new generations, leading to the gradual abandonment of this cultural treasure in their expert hands. It was during a family road trip across Algeria that the idea to create our shop, in close collaboration with these artisans, was born.

Who are we?

We are a family, united by the same passion and a shared vision. Our aim is to shine a light on Algerian craftsmanship and make it flourish beyond its borders. We have a deep love for this country and the wealth it holds. We are fortunate to work closely with artisans, exchanging stories of history and tradition with them. Our primary concern is ensuring these artisans are not left behind. This is why we believe it is essential to meet them in person, forging a direct connection with the skilled hands that create each of these treasures. Through our travels, we journey across the country, searching for objects that will find a special place in your home.

Why Pari Banou?

Pari Banou is inspired by the tale from The Thousand and One Nights, featuring Prince Ahmed and the fairy Pari Banou. The story tells of the adventures of three sons of a sultan—Houssain, the eldest, Ali, the middle son, and Ahmed, the youngest—who are all in love with Nourounnihar, their cousin raised by the sultan. To settle the matter, the sultan proposes a quest: "The one who brings back the rarest, most magical, and astonishing object will win the princess’s hand." Thus begins a journey to determine the most worthy suitor.
